Glaucoma, rope, clothes... whats next?

Leffe/Blonde was a classic light Belgian served on tap. No head, not much smell. Tasted frankly like a pale ale with a bit lighter characteristics. Sweet, drinkable, but nothing special.

Overall: B

Beer snob would rather drink: Corona

Humbolt Brewing/Hemp Ale is a beer brewed with hemp out of Humbolt Country (where else?). Tried this out of a bomber. Smelled like hemp. Darker flavored beer with a dry after taste that was a bit funky, but interesting. Finish was hoppy/hempy, and since they are cousins, the taste was pretty similar. Wouldn’t want to drink this too much, but interesting.

Overall: C+

Beer snob would rather drink: A beer like this with kitschy adjuncts are right up a BS’s alley.

Harviestoun Brewery/Old Engine Oil is a stout aged in whisky casks. I have tried their Old Dubh Special Reserve and find this beer a close (cheaper) substitute. Poured jet black from a 12 oz. bottle, this is a tasty stout with woody characteristics. The nose had lots of whiskey smells. Taste was great, mouthfeel pretty good (I like a bit more carbonation). Aging beer in barrels is becoming somewhat of a fad, but this beer is no joke.

Overall: A

Beer snob would rather drink: Guinness

Lindemans/Pomme is a lambic fruit beer that tastes like apples. In fact it tastes like apple cider. In fact it tastes exactly like apple cider, only a bit more sweet. I tried this on tap; light and cloudy, with minimal head. Tasted like sour, sweet apple cider. Very little malt taste, if any. To me lambics are just alcoholic cider, which is marginally better than a wine cooler.

Overall: C-

Beer snob would rather drink: Sam Adams Cranberry Lambic
